A new directory of sports and leisure services for disabled Londoners has been launched.

The Greater London Disability Directory aims to get disabled residents involved in sport and make them aware of the facilities available.

The directory contains listings of disability sports clubs, partnerships and associations as well as contacts for various facilities and services.

Deputy leader and lead councillor for equalities Sirajul Islam welcomed the launch.

“This is a vital document that provides essential information to our disabled residents,” he said.

“The directory will play a huge role in making sure the excellent sports and leisure services we have here in the borough are as accessible as possible for all our residents.”

Lead councillor for culture and leisure Rofique U Ahmed added: “We’ve got some fantastic sporting facilities for disabled people in Tower Hamlets, and this directory will help local people make the most of them.”

The directory has been compiled with involvement from the British Paralympic Association, Parasport, Paralympics 2012, the London Sports Forum, Special Olympics and councils in the capital.
