Residents can find out what the borough’s leisure centres have to offer at one of four free open days taking place between Friday and Monday, July 4 and 7.

Organised by Tower Hamlets Council in partnership with GLL (Greenwich Leisure Limited), the open days are part of a drive to encourage residents to get active.

They will run alongside the council’s occupational health team’s Health Matters Health Fayre which provides information on healthy living.

Lead councillor for culture Rofique U Ahmed said: “This is a great way for local residents to find out more about the leisure facilities available in the borough. They’ll be able to take part in classes, find out how the gym equipment works and use the pool.

“Once they’ve seen what’s on offer we hope that they will come back again and again, and include physical activity into their everyday lives.”

The open day will be running at the borough’s seven leisure centres.

Visitors will be able to join group exercise classes such as Pilates, core stability and kick boxing, use the fitness centres and have a swim.

Special membership offers will be available during the open days, so those who enjoy themselves can sign up for more.

Mile End Park Leisure Centre, York Hall Leisure Centre, St George’s Pools and Tiller Leisure Centre all have swimming pools.

The borough’s other leisure centres include Whitechapel, Langdon Park and John Orwell.
