Bethnal Green Centre Closure
Saturday, 26 April 2008 18:44
Bethnal Green Centre at 239, Bethnal Green Road is a unique centre of adult education - one of the oldest in the country.
It offers a wide range of classes including pottery, silver jewellery, stained glass, motor maintenance, upholstery, woodwork, literacy and numeracy, computers, ESOL, various fitness classes, weight training and dance.
It has an Ofsted approved creche which enable parents - especially Mums - to come in and study during the day whilst their little ones have expert care and play.
Everyone uses the cafe - having snacks and meals at affordable prices whilst making friends.
The day time classes are threatened with closure from September and the specialist craft and technical classes are going to be moved - which in many cases means closed as there is nowhere to put them.
Join the campaign to save Bethnal Green Centre - visit the centre and sign the petition and try out a class.
JOIN on Saturday 26 April the March to save the Centre leaving Bethnal Green Gardens at 11am.
So do not allow Bethnal Green and Tower Hamlets lose such a unique and valuable community education centre.
