Post mortem shows teenager drowned in Limehouse Basin

A POST mortem of a teenager pulled from the water at Limehouse Basin last week showed the cause of death was from drowning.

The 17-year-old victim was named as Noobin Ahmed, from the Stepney area.

Police are appealing for information and witnesses.

They urgently want to hear from anyone who may have been in the Limehouse Basin area on May 12 and seen Mr Ahmed to contact them on (020) 7275 4772.

Police were called by a member of the public at around 3.30am that day to Narrow Street to reports of a man in distress in water at Limehouse Basin.

Officers, the Coastguards and London Ambulance service attended the scene and the man was pulled from the water. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said at this early stage the death is being dealt with as unexplained.
