Bungee Jump for Burma Emergency Appeal
Written by Emdad Rahman Tuesday, 13 May 2008 14:13
Families Relief are asking London Bangla readers to help save millions of people who have been affected by the worst cyclone to hit Asia since 1991.
Casualty figures continue to rise yet an estimated 22,000 people have been killed and 41,000 are missing.
Currently most people are drinking the same water which carries hundreds of bodies, rotten dead animals, human waste, as well as industrial and residential waste.
The biggest needs are shelter and drinking water. Prices of food, fuel and basic necessities have also increased dramatically in the wake of the storm, putting more people at risk. Water-borne diseases may also be an issue in the coming days and weeks.
Families Relief are arranging a sponsored bungee jump from London Bridge, on Saturday 8th June. Participants are requested to raise a minimum of £150 to help the needy in Burma.
To participate please call 0845 200 9851. Alternatively please call 07944 502 932. Deadline for booking is 20th May.
