Young residents from Wapping and surrounding wards in Tower Hamlets are polishing up their acts to perform the sensation musical ‘Ellie’. The show is set to premier at the esteemed Wilton’s Music Hall in Wapping on Friday 16 May 2008 at 7.30pm.

The young actors taking part in the musical attend Pollyanna, a local theatre school. The Wapping based theatre group received support from Tower Hamlets Local Area Partnership 4 (LAP 4), so that young residents had the rare opportunity to showcase their talents in the renowned Wilton’s Music Hall.

‘Ellie’ illustrates the devastating effect war has on children and young people. It’s set in a fictional war torn country and centres on the adventures of Ellie and her friend ‘the child’.

Alex Kind, from Pollyanna Training Theatre, said: “Rehearsing the musical has been a real eye opener for the youngsters. It’s shown them how different life can be for young people in a less privileged environment.

“We’re overjoyed to be staging ‘Ellie’ in such a prestigious venue like Wilton’s Music Hall. It’s going to be a show stopper and everyone should try and come along.”

‘Ellie’ will be performed on Monday 19 May, Tuesday 20 May and a gala performance on Wednesday 21 May. Tickets for the performance cost: £8.00 for adults, £4.00 for children and £5.00 for concessions.
