NATIONAL JOIN A LIBRARY DAY Saturday 26th April 2008
On Saturday 26th April libraries across England will be gearing up to receive high numbers of new library joiners as part of the National Year of Reading’s ground-breaking national initiative ‘Join A Library Day’.
Supported by all libraries across England, the day is part of the National Year of Reading’s campaign to encourage parents, children and young people to join their local library.
For the first time ever, the National Year of Reading and the Society of Chief Librarians have developed a universal library membership form (pdf) – a simple form that can be used to join any library in England. All you have to do is fill in the form and take it down to your local library with one form of ID to join up. Easy!
In addition, the first 235,000 children, young people and families that join their local library on Saturday 26th April will also receive a free copy of the National Year of Reading’s The Ultimate Book Guide, a selection of specially selected titles for young readers and a library welcome pack.
To join your local library, download and complete the library membership form (pdf) and take it along to your local library on Saturday – and any day during the Year of Reading.
Your local library has lots of free resources and a host of services to support reading including reading challenges, internet access, baby rhyme times, readers’ groups, author events and reading festivals.
